~ Just Because Your A Doctor ~

Hi everyone, I just have to get this off my chest. I had to call a on-call doctor today at work and ask him to write a script for a patients narcotic because we only had one left and they received a new order yesterday and pharmacy won't fill it without a signed script. It's not my rules, it is a federal regulation for pharmacies to have a signed script. I am just a nurse trying to do my job. So don't get pissed off because it is Saturday morning and your sitting on your couch and don't want to work. Here is a clue for you then don't be the on-call doctor on the weekend. The ass told me, are you ready for this, well then I guess since I don't have a script at home the patient may just have to suffer through it. Bullshit.........what planet are you on. I simply asked him then if I could get in contact with her primary doctor, of course he said no. I said well then I guess I will need to contact our medical director. I am not going to let the patient suffer because the primary doctor failed to right a script and send it to our pharmacy. I am not done with him yet. I will be speaking to the assistant director of nursing about his comment and letting the patient suffer. What an ass! You may have gotten away with this sort of comment to a new nurse, but I have been around the block numerous times with crabby on-call physicians and I am tired of it. So the end of the conversation went by me telling him I will contact our medical director for a script then, and he said well I will keep looking and if I find one I will call you back. The ass called me back in like five seconds. Yeah right, you couldn't find a script. If I could have reached through the phone and smacked him in the back of the head I would have!!! Okay, it is now off my chest. I will end now by saying good night and may your day tomorrow be filled with sunshine, and happiness.
