Hi everyone, thought I would share some photo's I took of the St. Croix River just north of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. The river had a huge ice jam that expanded about two miles up river. I have never seen anything like it before. The DNR was even there snapping photo's and concerned about the dock or wood overlook. They tried to save it but were unsucessful. The ice pushed right up underneath it and broke the boards. Believe it or not. The next day I went back to see what it looked like and there was nothing but open flowing water. It was as if the ice jam was never there, but apparently the DNR used some dynamite to break it up and get the river flowing again. I did not even realize they used such methods still. It just sounds so foreign to me. lol. Enjoy the picks. I am glad Spring is finally here, and can't wait for the summer when all the lakes are open water. Have a lovely day.
