~ Broken Heart ~

Good evening everyone. Hope everyone is staying as cool as possible with this extended period of heat upon us. I wish I had good news to blog about, but unfortunately my heart is filled with great sadness this evening. Let me explain. A two year old toddler named Isaiah went missing from his home on Tuesday evening at approx. 7:30 p.m. Volunteers and Police Officers quickly assembled a search team as best they could and comb the woods, ponds, and surrounding area best they could in an attempt to find Isiah, but were unsuccessful even with police dogs and infrared helicopters. They worked the area until 2 a.m., but had to stop because it was just too dark and became unsafe for volunteers.

The search resumed again on Wednesday morning. Volunteers went over the areas covered the night before early in the morning, but nothing. By mid afternoon they regrouped all the volunteers and reviewed the search efforts. This is where I come in. I went to assist in the search. It was sweltering hot out with temps in the 90's and dew points up in the mid 60's which made it extremely humid. We gathered in groups of ten accompanied by a EMS personnel, a fire fighter, and a police officer. Ten groups went out to cover a two mile radius shoulder to shoulder for approx. four hours turning over everything that crossed their path. I am sad to report we were unsuccessful. Another group continued into the night until 10 p.m. and the search was called off, but news hit the airways this morning stating that they had found little Isaiah deceased, locked in the trunk of a car that was located on the premise of the property where he lived. Everything is now up in the air, and there are a lot of unanswered questioned. They are in the process of doing an autopsy on the little guy.

In light of the news this morning I broke down in tears on the way home from work. I don't understand why I feel so connected to this little guy, but for whatever reasons, I do. In a little bit I will be heading out for a candle light vigil for him. It was amazing to see all of the kind hearted people that still exist in this world. The final number of civilian volunteers totaled 2,450 people. Other people, and businesses donated water, gator aid, bug spray, food, people came with their horses and ATV's. It definitely was an experience to say the least. Would I do it again? Absolutely without blinking an eye.
Remember to hold your children close this evening, hug them, and tell them you love them. And I end with a heart full of sadness this evening. Good night.
